The Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team will open a very quick two-game road trip on Saturday when the No. 10-ranked Blue Dragons travel to Garden City.

The Blue Dragons wrap up the road trip, which is part of a second four-game-in-eight-day stretch this season, with a Monday trip to play the Pratt Beavers.

Game time on Saturday at Conestoga Arena in Garden City is 2 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9) and on sister stations KWBW-AM/FM (1450/98.5) at 1:55 p.m. with Daren Dunn (play by play) and Rusty Hilst (analysis) calling the action.

The last time the Blue Dragons went through a four-game stretch over eight days, they went 4-0. This stretch started with a 100-69 victory over Northwest Tech on Wednesday at the Sports Arena. After Pratt on Monday, the Dragons will close out this rapid-fire run of games with a home game against surging Dodge City.

The Blue Dragons were sluggish in the early going on Wednesday against Northwest Tech. The Mavericks had a brief one-point lead in the latter stages of the second quarter. Hutch led 41-38 at halftime before taking over the in the second. Hutch outscored Tech 59-31 in the second half.

Sophomore forward Dejanae Roebuck rebounded from her worst outing of the season one week ago with a 23-point, 14-rebound double-double. Keeley Tini added a career-best 20 points and sophomore Jada Mickens had 15 points and nine rebounds.

Garden City is in the final game of a three-game stretch against the top three teams in the Jayhawk West. The Broncbusters have lost the first two games – 83-74 to Barton and 83-65 to Seward County – and are currently in sixth place in the Jayhawk West.

Hutchinson dominated the first meeting with Garden City this year, defeating the Broncbusters 87-56 on January 16 at the Sports Arena. Mickens had a team-high 15 points to lead four Blue Dragons in double figures. The Dragons knocked down eight 3-pointers, three each from Makayla Vannett and Milan Schimmel. Hutch forced Garden City into 30 turnovers and held the Broncbusters to 37.3 percent from the field.

With her double-double on Wednesday, Hutchinson's Roebuck made some significant jumps up the Blue Dragon career statistical charts. She became the 17th Blue Dragon to reach the 800 career-point mark (821 points). Her 14 rebounds moved her into 10th place on the career rebounds list. She is two rebounds shy of the 500 career rebound plateau. Roebuck also moved into the Top 10 in career made free throws with 192.

Blue Dragon head coach John Ontjes is also within striking distance of a significant conference and region milestone. With 337 wins with the Blue Dragons, Ontjes is three wins away from moving past Darin Spence into fifth place on the all-time Jayhawk Conference and Region VI coaching wins lists.
