Hutchinson CC Sports Information

The Hutchinson Community College women's basketball plays in its 13th holiday classic beginning Friday, but it will be the first on the floor of the Hutchinson Sports Arena.

The Blue Dragons, Barton, Iowa Western and Ellsworth make up the field for the first Polo Bar & Grill/Blue Dragon Holiday Classic this Friday and Saturday.

The No. 6-ranked Blue Dragons will play Iowa Western at 6 p.m. on Friday and Ellsworth at 3 p.m. on Saturday. Barton will take on Ellsworth at 4 p.m. on Friday and Iowa Western at 1 p.m. on Saturday.

All four games will be videostreamed live on the Blue Dragon Sports Network with links available 10 minutes before tip time. All Hutchinson games will be broadcast live on Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9) and on sister stations KWBW-AM/FM (1450/98.5). All Barton games will be broadcast live on KVGB-FM (104.3).

The Blue Dragons have had a lot of success in holiday games, going 20-5 in the first 12 holiday classics. Last season, the Blue Dragons traveled to Fort Myers, Florida, to earn wins over Santa Fe and Southwestern Florida State.

Friday will be the fifth overall meeting between Hutchinson and Iowa Western, the first since a neutral-site game in Olathe. The Blue Dragons have won all four previous meetings with the Reivers. Saturday's game with Ellsworth will be the first the Blue Dragons and Panthers will play in women's basketball.

Hutchinson has won its first 12 games to start the season, winning 10 or more games to start a season for the fifth time in the John Ontjes era. The Blue Dragons' have been off since December 12 when the Blue Dragons won at Cloud County 60-49.
