Hutchinson CC Sports Information

Last year's Hutchinson Community College-Independence women's basketball season series was one of those to say "it's hard to beat a team three times in one season."

Hutch swept the regular-season games with the Pirates, but in the Region VI Tournament semifinals, Independence turned the tables with a decisive 70-50 win.

The rematch is Saturday night at the Sports Arena at 5:30 p.m. and it's the only regular-season meeting between Hutch and Indy, who play for the 46th time in series history.

Saturday's game will be broadcast live on Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9) and on sister stations KWBW-AM/FM (1450/102.9) beginning at 5:20 p.m. with Glen Grunwald (play by play) and Rusty Hilst (analysis) calling the action. The game will also be videostreamed on the Blue Dragon Sports Network.

The No. 13-ranked Blue Dragons are 8-0 and 1-0 in conference play after an 81-45 victory at Coffeyville on Wednesday.

Dejanae Roebuck is the fourth-leading scorer in the Jayhawk Conference at 16.5 points per game. Makayla Vannett is ninth in the league at 12.9 points per contest.

The Pirates are 5-3 overall but dropped their conference opener on Wednesday, 76-70 to Dodge City at the ICC Fieldhouse.

Independence's leading scorer is forward Victoria Mikklesen, who is averaging 12.3 points and 7.1 rebounds per game.
