A pair of Hutchinson Community College Women's Basketball freshmen earned 2018 postseason honors as the Jayhawk Conference and Region VI announced their postseason teams.

Forward Jada Mickens was named the 2018 Jayhawk Conference Freshman of the Year. She was also named the to the all-Jayhawk and All-Region VI first teams. Forward DejaNae Roebuck was named first team All-Jayhawk Conference and second-team all-region VI.

The 2018 Blue Dragons finished 27-7 overall, tied for second in the Jayhawk, advanced to the Region VI semifinals and qualified for the NJCAA Tournament as an at-large team.

JADA MICKENS
Mickens, a 6-foot freshman forward from Liberal, had a tremendous Blue Dragon debut and kept right on leading the Blue Dragons throughout the season.

Mickens averaged 13.5 points per game while shooting 50.1 percent from the field. She added 18 3-pointers, shooting 31.0 percent from distance. Mickens also shot 73.1 percent from the free-throw line as well as averaging 8.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.4 steals and 1.2 blocked shots per game.

Mickens ranked ninth in the Jayhawk Conference this season in scoring , fourth in field-goal percentage, eighth in free-throw percentage, sixth in rebound average and fifth in blocked shots.

Her 458 total points were ninth most scored by a Blue Dragon freshman. Her 114 total free throws were fourth most by a Blue Dragon freshman. Her 295 rebounds and 8.7 rebounding average were fifth and eighth, respectively by a Hutch freshman and her 40 blocked shots ranked third in Blue Dragon freshman history.

Mickens started her Blue Dragon career with a 34-point, 10-rebound performance. She finished the season with 13 double-doubles.

DEJANAE ROEBUCK
Roebuck and Mickens gave the Blue Dragons a tremendous 1-2 inside punch for the Blue Dragons in 2018.

Roebuck, a 5-11 forward from Olathe, averaged 13.0 points per game shooting 47.1 percent from the field. She closed out the season with a 24-point, 12-rebound performance against San Jacinto-North in the opening round of the NJCAA Tournament on March 19.

Roebuck finished the season as Hutch's leading rebounder at 9.1 boards per game. She also shot 70.2 percent from the free-throw line and averaged 2.6 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.8 blocked shots per game.

Roebuck wound up being the No. 3 rebounder in the Jayhawk Conference this season. She was the 11th-leading scorer in the league. Her field-goal percentage was 13th in the league.

Her 443 points scored this season were the 13th most scored by a Blue Dragon freshman. Her 99 made free throws were eighth most by a freshman. Roebuck's 311 total rebounds and 9.1 rebounding average were fourth and tied for fifth, respectively, in Blue Dragon freshman history.

Roebuck had a team-high 14 double-doubles. Her season scoring high was her 24 points against San Jacinto in the national tournament. She posted a game of 18 rebounds against Lamar on November 7. That tied for the third most in program single-game history.
