Hutchinson CC Sports Information

The Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team will try to lock up the No. 2 overall seed for the upcoming Region VI Tournament on Monday with a road trip to Dodge City.

The No. 22-ranked Blue Dragons bid for their fifth-consecutive victory in a 5:30 p.m. matchup at Dodge City's Student Activities Center in Dodge City. Monday is the regular-season finale for both teams.

The game will be broadcast live on Blue Dragon flagship stadium KHUT-FM (102.9) and on sister stations KWBW-AM/FM (1450/98.5) with Daren Dunn (play-by-play) and Glen Grunwald (analysis) calling the action at 5:20 p.m. The game will also be streamed on the Blue Dragon Sports Network beginning at 5:20 p.m.

With Saturday's 67-52 victory over Independence on Saturday at the Sports Arena, the Blue Dragons moved into a second-place tie in the Jayhawk Conference with the Pirates, which also gives Hutch the tiebreaker with Indy. A victory on Monday would give the Dragons the No. 2 overall regional tournament seed.

During their four-game winning streak, the Blue Dragons have been stellar defensively allowing 50.5 points per game with opponents shooting 33.2 percent overall and 25.7 percent from 3-point range. On Saturday, the Dragons held Independence more than 20 points under its season scoring average with the Pirates' second-lowest offensive outside and lowest field-goal percentage of the season.

The Blue Dragons will face a much-improved Dodge City team, which has won seven more games than a year ago.

Dodge City has dropped two in a row, falling to Seward County 98-39 on Saturday night in Liberal.

The Blue Dragons won the first meeting with Dodge City 74-47 on January 13at the Sports Arena. Dejanae Roebuck had a game-high 17 points and seven rebounds to lead the Blue Dragons. Sara Cramer had three 3-pointers with 12 points and Alicia Brown added 10. Makaela Ewing and Allie Baker had 10 points each to lead the Conquistadors.
