The No. 14 Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team couldn't overcome 27 turnovers and a 23-4 margin at the free-throw line as the Butler Grizzlies defeated the Blue Dragons 57-54 on Saturday at the Sports Arena.

The Blue Dragons dropped their second-straight game and fall to 20-5 overall, 16-5 in the Jayhawk Conference. Butler won at the Sports Arena for the first time since 1007 and improves to 17-7 overall and 14-7 in the Jayhawk.

After trailing by as many as 11 points in the second quarter, but Blue Dragons fought back to trail 26-22 by halftime and eventually take a 34-28 lead with 2:28 to play in the third quarter.

But despite shooting 61 percent in the fourth quarter, the Blue Dragons committed seven turnovers and saw Butler outscore Hutchinson 15-2 from the free-throw line in outscoring the Dragons 26-20 in the final period.

Freshman Sara Cramer hit 3 of 6 3-pointers and led the Blue Dragons with 14 points and four assists.

Dejanae Roebuck had 12 points and six rebounds.

Kelsey Brett tied a season high with eight points, hitting two 3-pointers.

The Blue Dragons shot 44.7 percent for the game (21 of 47), hitting 8 of 23 from the 3-point line. The Dragon out-rebounded Butler 31-24, but their 27 turnovers turned into 20 Butler points.

The Grizzlies shot 32.6 percent for the game (15 of 46), going 4 of 14 from 3-point range. The Grizzlies had only 14 turnovers.

Butler hit 23 of 28 from the free-throw line to Hutchinson's 4 of 8.

Hutchinson travels to Barton for a 5:30 p.m. game on Wednesday in Great Bend.

GAME NOTES – The Blue Dragons are now 56-30 all-time against Butler, 27-13 at the Arena. … The Blue Dragons are 16-3 when out-shooting an opponent, 19-4 when out-rebounding an opponent. … The Blue Dragons lost back-to-back games at the Sports Arena since Seward County and Cloud County defeated the Blue Dragons in 2006-07.
