Hutchinson CC Sports Information

The No. 17-ranked Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team wraps up its four-game homestand on Wednesday as the Pratt Beavers come to the Sports Arena.

Gametime is set for 5:30 p.m. The game will be broadcast live on Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9) and on sister stations KWBW-AM/FM at 5:20 p.m. with Glen Grunwald (play-by-play) and Rusty Hilst (analysis) calling the action. The game will also be videostreamed on the Blue Dragon Sports Network at 5:20 p.m.

The Blue Dragons are 2-1 on the current homestand with victories over Dodge City and Cloud County. The lone setback was a 13-point loss to No. 13 Seward County. That loss didn't cost the Blue Dragons any slots in the latest NJCAA rankings, which were released today.

Entering play on Wednesday, the Blue Dragons (16-3) are tied with Independence for third place in the Jayhawk Conference at 12-3. The Dragons and Pirates trail Cowley and Seward County by just one game. Those four teams are three games clear of the rest of the league entering play on Wednesday.

The Blue Dragons come off a thrilling 66-64 overtime victory over Cloud County on Saturday at the Arena.

Sophomore Alicia Brown tied the game with a drive to the basket with 16 seconds to play in regulation. Kelsey Brett hit a big 3-pointer and Dejanae Roebuck had six of her career-high 23 points in overtime to lead the Blue Dragons, who survived two last-second Thunderbird shots to tie the game at the end of the extra period.

Pratt comes into Wednesday's game on short rest. The Beavers (2-16) had to travel to Independence to play a postponed game from January 17. Pratt dropped an 87-41 decision on Monday.

The Beavers have suffered through a 12-game losing streak, but snapped that on January 13 when they defeated Allen 74-62.

Wednesday's game will be the second of the season between the Blue Dragons and Beavers. Hutchinson won the first meeting 64-31 on November 18 in Pratt. The Blue Dragons trailed 12-8 after one quarter, but outscored Pratt 38-6 in the second and third period to take charge of the game. Jada Mickens and 19 points and 13 rebounds to lead Hutchinson in the first game. Roebuck added 10 points and 10 rebounds. Jada Catlin had 12 points to lead the Beavers.

That game started Hutchinson's season-long 13-game winning streak.
