The No. 18-ranked Hutchinson Community College women's basketball team closes out the first half of the Jayhawk Conference season on Saturday when the Dodge City Conquistadors come to the Sports Arena.

The game will tip off at 5:30 p.m. and will be broadcast live by Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9) and sister stations KWBW-AM/FM (1450/98.5) at 7:20 p.m. with Glen Grunwald (play-by-play) and Rusty Hilst (analysis) calling the action. The game will also be streamed live on the Blue Dragon Sports Network.

Hutchinson opens a four-game homestand on Saturday. After Dodge City, the Blue Dragons take on Seward County on Wednesday, Cloud County next Saturday and Pratt on Jan. 24.

As the Jayhawk Conference season reaches the mid-point, the Blue Dragons, Seward County and Cowley remain tied for first place with 10-2 records.

The Blue Dragons have reeled off 12-consecutive victories since dropping two in a row in mid-November. The Dragons are averaging 69.5 points offensively, shooting 38.7 percent from the field. Defensively, Hutchinson is allowing 53.9 points and just 32.6 percent shooting. Hutch has held 8 of its 12 opponents during the streak to less than 35 percent shooting.

The latest win in that streak came on Wednesday when the Blue Dragons traveled to Independence and defeated the Pirates 56-53. Freshman Sara Cramer hit three 3-pointers in leading the Dragons offensively. In her last six games, Cramer is 16 of 39 from 3-point range and is averaging 11.8 points per game.

Dodge City (5-10, 3-10) has lost three games in a row since returning from the Christmas break. The Conquistadors lost 88-53 to Seward County on Wednesday.

The Conquistadors are averaging 56.2 points per game shooting 34.0 percent overall and 23.1 percent from 3-point range. Defensively, Dodge City is allowing 62.7 points per game. Opponents are shooting 35.9 percent (fifth best field goal defense in the Jayhawk Conference) and 31.8 percent from 3-point range.

Freshman forward Makaela Ewing is Dodge City's leading scorer at 9.1 points per game. Freshman Addison Rowley averages 8.7 points and shoots 41.7 percent from 3-point range.
