A veteran high school and youth coach, Robert O’Neal is in his third season as a part-time assistant on the Blue Dragon softball coaching staff.

Over his three seasons with the Blue Dragons, O’Neal has seen the Dragons produce a record of 88-31 with a pair of second-place KJCCC finished and two third-place Region VI finishes. The 2022 Blue Dragons also cracked the national rankings – finishing at No. 15 – for the first time since 2018.

Previous to joining the Blue Dragons, O’Neal spent the last 18 years coaching at various levels, including five years as a Buhler High School coach and four years as an assistant and recruiter for the Texas Glory travel team in Wichita.

A Hutchinson native, O’Neal went to Friends University in Wichita.

O’Neal, and his wife of 30 years, Laura, have two children – Kalie (29) and Mason (27).
