Hutchinson CC Sports Information

For the second time this season, Hutchinson Community College softball players Jaeleigh Darnell and Dakota Lake swept Jayhawk Conference Player and Pitcher of the Week awards.

Darnell was named the league's Division I Player of the Week and Lake was the Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday, matching the feat they accomplished three weeks ago.

JAELEIGH DARNELL – Player of the Week
The sophomore outfielder from Auburn, Nebraska topped her Player of the Week numbers from February 27.

Darnell hit .571 and slugged 1.928 in a 4-0 week for the Blue Dragons. She was a combined 10 for 14 with three doubles, five home runs and 10 RBIs in a pair of doubleheader weeks of Labette and Seward County last week.

She had two 4-for-4 games and two two-homer games, extending her hitting streak to 16 games.

DAKOTA LAKE – Pitcher of the Week
A freshman pitcher from Des Moines, Iowa, Lake had four impressive shutout performances with a win and a save last week for the Blue Dragons.

Lake pitched 9 1/3 innings and struck out 17 batters. Lake allowed only two hits and four walks.

The win and save both came in a doubleheader against Labette.
