DODGE CITY – The Hutchinson Community College softball team extended its winning streak against Dodge City to 12 and 13 games on Wednesday with a doubleheader sweep of the Conquistadors.

Alexis Mastin drove in four runs and Delaney Blakesley twirled four innings of one-hit shutout ball as Hutchinson run-ruled Dodge City 12-0 in five innings. Madi Divis had her first career multi home run game and drive in a career-high five as the Blue Dragons rolled to a 13-1 win over Dodge City in five innings in Game 2.

The Blue Dragons improved to 16-6 overall and 7-1 in the Jayhawk Conference. The Blue Dragons travel to No. 23 Butler on Saturday in El Dorado in a battle of the top two teams in the KJCCC. Dodge City fell to 3-15 overall and 3-5 in the KJCCC.

Hutchinson now has eight run-rule victories this season, including seven in conference play

GAME 1 RECAP – Hutchinson 12, Dodge City 0 (5 innings)
Blakesley improved to 4-0 for the season with one of her best starts in her Blue Dragon career.

She allowed just three baserunners in her four innings in the circle and didn't allow a hit until the fourth inning – a double that was immediately erased on a line-drive double play.

Blakesley struck out five, walked none, allowed one hit and hit one batter in her four innings of work. Dakota Lake struck out three and walked one in her one inning of work.

The Blue Dragons pitchers were giving plenty of run support. Hutchinson out-hit Dodge City 13-1.

Mastin led the way going 2 for 2 with a double, home run and four RBIs. Mastin had a RBI double in the first for a 2-0 lead. She then hit her first home run since February 10 in a six-run second inning. Mastin got her fourth RBI of the game with a sacrifice fly in the fourth.

Bailey Backhaus, Olivia Sandoval and Jaeleigh Darnell all had two hits each for the Dragons.

Backhaus was 2 for 3 with two runs scored. Sandoval was 2 for 3 with a double, two runs and a sacrifice fly. Darnell had a single, double and two RBIs.

Annie Kealey ripped a three-run double as part of a six-run second inning. Both Preslee Irwin and Haley Kruger had RBI doubles in a three-run fifth inning.

GAME 2 RECAP – Hutchinson 13, Dodge City 1 (5 innings)
A two-run double by Kealey and a three-run home run to right field were the big blows in an eight-run first inning by the Blue Dragons to start the second game.

That first inning was the fourth this season by Hutchinson to score eight or more runs in a single inning.

Divis also hit two-run home run in the top of the fifth for her first career multi-homer game. She also drove in a career-high five runs and scored a pair of runs.

Darnell went 3 for 4 to pace the Blue Dragons' 14-hit attack. Darnell singled in the first, led off the fourth with a home run and singled in the fifth. She scored three runs and had one RBI.

Sandoval hit her first home run of the season, a solo homer in the third. Sandoval was 2 for 2 with two runs and two RBIS. Brie Brawner was 2 for 2 with a run. Brooke Backhaus had a doble and run scored. Bailey Backhaus had a double.

The Blue Dragons used four pitchers in the second game. Korri lies (4-1) was credited with the win. Jaala Nowlin, Morgan Tomlinson and Lake each worked scoreless innings. The four Blue Dragon pitchers held Dodge City to four total hits with three strikeouts.
