NJCAA Div. I Softball Rankings: Week 6

The ending of a 12-game win streak dropped the Hutchinson Community College softball team two spots to No. 15 in the latest NJCAA Division I softball rankings, which were released Monday.

The Blue Dragons, 28-5 overall this season, split their doubleheader Saturday at Colby, falling 7-6 in game one and bouncing back to win game two 8-5. Ranked No. 13 last week in the national poll, the Blue Dragons had won 12 straight games dating back to the doubleheader split at home against the Butler Grizzlies on March 4. The Blue Dragons have been on the road since March 11.

Following this weekend, the Blue Dragons and the now-No. 16 Grizzlies (25-7 overall) are tied for first in the Jayhawk Conference with a league record of 16-2.

The two league leaders meet in El Dorado for a doubleheader at 1p.m. Wednesday at East Park, which will wrap up a four-doubleheader road trip for the Blue Dragons.

Florida Southwestern is the No. 1 team in the nation for the second week in a row. Grayson follows suit at No. 2, and Northwest Florida State is No. 3. Odessa leaped from No. 6 to No. 4.
