PRATT – Madison Grimes and Easton Head had productive days with five RBIs each as the Hutchinson Community College softball team swept the Pratt Beavers on Thursday afternoon in Lemon Park.

Hutchinson extended its winning streak after a 15-2 five-inning victory in Game 1 and a 9-3 win in the second game. The Blue Dragons improve to 18-12 overall and are in second place in the Jayhawk East at 8-6. Hutchinson plays at Dodge City Saturday in a 2 p.m. doubleheader at Legends Park. Pratt falls to 4-29 overall and 0-12 in the Jayhawk East.

GAME 1 RECAP
The Blue Dragons earned their seventh run-rule victory of the season with a 16-hit attack that included three doubles, two triples and two home runs. The Dragons had multiple-run innings in 4 of 5 at-bats in the first game.

Head tied a career high with five RBIs going 2 for 3 with a with an RBI triple in the second inning and a three-run home run in the fourth.

Grimes had her eight game this season with three or more hits, going 3 for 3 with a triple, three runs scored and three RBIs.

Haley Miller went 2 for 3 with a pair of runs. Madison Simoneau also hit a pinch-hit two-run home run.

Eight of the nine Blue Dragon batters in the starting lineup had hits and scored runs.

Jordan Galliher earned the victory in the pitching circle to improve to 8-2. Galliher worked four innings and allowed three hits, two earned runs and three walks with three strikeouts. Galliher, who pitched a no-hitter against Northwest Tech on Tuesday, had a streak of consecutive innings without allowing a hit stopped at eight when Alyssa Glass led off the third inning with a double.

Sadie Loney pitched the fifth inning and had one strikeout.

GAME 2 RECAP
The Blue Dragons broke out on top with a Kylee Dunn two =run single in the second and never relinquished the lead. Pratt stayed close and trailed only 5-3 after an Alyssa Reyes two-run single in the bottom of the fifth inning.

The Dragons got some big insurance runs in their final two at-backs. Alexis Way singled home Head in the sixth for a three-run Hutchinson lead. Then Grimes and Natalie Bevan hit back-to-back home runs in a three-run seventh inning.

Bevan led a nine-hit Blue Dragon attack after going 3 for 4 with her sixth homer of the season and two RBIs. Grimes extended her current hitting streak to eight games with her two-run home run in the seventh. Dunn was also 2 for 3 with two RBIs.

Miller also extended her season-high hitting streak to eight games after going 1 for 4.

Starting pitcher Samarah Bailey improved to 6-5 in the pitching circle after working 4 1-3 innings. Bailey allowed four hits, two earned runs and one walk while striking out five. Loney pitched the final 2 2-3 innings for her second save of the season. She had two strikeouts and allowed one run and three hits.
