Five members of the Hutchinson Community College softball team earned All-Jayhawk East honors this week as the Jayhawk Conference Division I all-league teams were announced.
Freshman outfielder Taylor Ullery and freshman first baseman Ashley Wilson were selected to the All-Jayhawk East first team. Sophomore outfielder Brynne Stockman, freshman shortstop Caitlin Schumacher and sophomore catcher Beanie Luttig were named to the second team.
Those five all-conference players helped Hutchinson to a 26-16 overall record and a third-place finish in the Jayhawk East, Hutch's first season back in Division I in 12 seasons. The Blue Dragons closed the regular season on a 16-game winning streak.

TAYLOR ULLERY – First team, Outfield
A 5-foot-6 freshman from Topeka, Ullery was Hutchinson's leading hitter in 2019 with a .464 batting average. She tied for second on the team with seven home runs and was third with 31 RBIS. She had a.906 slugging percentage, adding 17 doubles and two triples.
Over Hutchinson's 16-game winning streak, Ullery hit at a .542 clip (32 of 59) with 31 runs, 16 doubles and 15 RBIs.
Ullery was a spark at the top of the Hutch lineup, either hitting No. 1 or No. 2 for most of the season with a .496 on-base percentage.
Ullery tied a single-game Blue Dragon record with five runs scored against the Sterling College JV on April 17. She had a pair of four-hit games – the same Sterling game and against Northwest Tech on April 24. Her high single-game mark for RBIs was four, done twice against Cloud County on Feb. 12 and Pratt on April 12.
Ullery also tied a single-game record for doubles with three at Seward County on April 17.
ASHLEY WILSON – First team, 1st Base
First base was one of the question marks entering the 2019 season for the Blue Dragons. Just three games into the season, Wilson, a 5-9 freshman from Mulvane made it her own.
Starting 39 games at first, Wilson committed only five errors in 311 defensive chances for a .984 fielding percentage, which ties for the 10th best single-season fielding percentage in team history.
Offensively, Wilson hit .355 with 43 total hits. She had 11 doubles, two home runs, 25 RBIs and 20 runs scored.
Over Hutchinson's 16-game winning streak, Wilson was 23 for 51 (.451) with seven doubles and 14 RBIs.
Wilson had a season-high four hits against Barton on March 9. She had two RBIs in nine different games. Wilson had a pair of six-game hitting streaks.
BRYNNE STOCKMAN – Second team, Outfield
With hits in 32 of 40 games played this season, the 5-7 sophomore from Overland Park was one of Hutchinson's steadiest hitters for a second-straight season.
Late in the season, Stockman had an 11-game hitting streak and hit safely in 19 of 20 games. Over Hutch's 16-game winning streak, Stockman hit a team-high .566 (30 for 53) with 20 runs, 17 RBIs, five doubles and two home runs.
Stockman had one four-hit game against the Tabor College JV on April 19. She drove in four runs in an 8-1 victory over Barton on April 10 that completed a doubleheader sweep of the Cougars.
For the season, Stockman was fourth on the team with a .413 batting average (57 for 138) with 10 doubles, five home runs, 35 runs scored and 32 RBIs. She had a slugging percentage of .609.
Stockman completes her Blue Dragon career with 112 total hits (tied for 14th on the Blue Dragon career list), a .370 batting average (tied for 11th at Hutchinson) and 70 RBIs (tied for 13th in Dragon softball history).
BEANIE LUTTIG – Second team, Catcher
The transfer from Western Nebraska had an immediate impact for the Blue Dragons in 2019. The 5-7 sophomore from Kennard, Nebraska hit 10 home runs this season, a team high and eighth-best mark in the KJCCC. She had three two-home run games – against Barton on March 9, at Independence on March 19 and against Dodge City in the Region VI Tournament on May 3.
Despite missing nine games late in the season, Luttig was third on the team with a .447 batting average, collecting 42 total hits. Luttig added five doubles, 31 RBIs and 21 runs scored. She slugged .819 and had an on-base percentage of .535.
Defensively had a .986 fielding percentage with only two errors on 292 fielding chances. Her .986 fielding percentage tied for sixth in Blue Dragon single-season history.
Luttig had a 5 for 5 game was two home runs and six RBIs on March 9 at Barton. The six RBIs tied for sixth most in team single-game history.
CAITLIN SCHUMACHER – Second team, Shortstop
A 5-7 shortstop from Maple Hill, Kansas, just steadily improved for the Blue Dragons in her freshman season.
Hitting just .207 on March 27, Schumacher hit .333 (19 of 57) over the final 20 games of the season.
Schumacher finished the season hitting.270 with 31 total hits. She had seven doubles, two home runs, 18 RBIs and 22 runs scored. Schumacher had an .896 fielding percentage, but that mark steadily climbed throughout the season with only five errors in the final 20 games.
Schumacher matched Luttig's six-RBI game with six runs driven in against Independence on April 15. She had three hits, including a double and her first career home run in that performance at Fun Valley.
