Hutchinson Community College softball players Maryssa Rollin and Megan Davis both earned Jayhawk Conference Player of the Week honors this season.

Rollin tied a single-game school record and tied a team record for a doubleheader and was named the conference's Division I Player of the Week. Davis earned two wins with two complete games, including a two-hit shutout and was named the KJCCC's Pitcher of the Week.

Rollin, a freshman pitcher designated player/pitcher from Olathe, tied a Blue Dragon single-game record for RBIs and RBIs in a doubleheader in a huge offensive week for the surging Blue Dragons.

Rollin went 2 for 3 with two home runs, including a grand slam, for a team-record tying seven RBIs in a 27-2 Hutch win over Pratt in a game that went only five innings. Rollin followed that by going 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs in the second game, an 8-0 win over Pratt.

With 10 RBIs in the doubleheader, Rollin tied that school record as well.

For the week, Rollin hit .583 (7 for 12) with a double, three home runs and 16 RBIs. Her slugging percentage was 1.417.

Davis, a sophomore starting pitcher from Princeton, posted two complete game victories to even her season record at 7-7.

She scattered seven hits and allowed one unearned run in an 8-1 win over Barton. Davis tied a season high with six strikeouts.

Davis then twirled her second two-hit shutout of the season in an 8-0 run-rule win over Pratt. Both hits, only singles, never advanced past first base. Davis struck out four and walked none in the game.

Both Rollin and Davis are now eligible for NJCAA national weekly honors. Those awards will be released on Wednesday.
