Hutchinson Community College pitchers Megan Davis and Maryssa Rollin limited one of the best offenses in the Jayhawk Conference to two combined runs in a doubleheader sweep on Wednesday at Fun Valley.

Davis struck out a season-high six as Hutchinson won the first game 7-1. Rollin fanned eight and hit a three-run home run in the first inning of the Blue Dragons' 8-1 victory to complete the sweep.

The sweep evens the Blue Dragons' overall record at 15-15 and 10-10 in the Jayhawk East. Barton falls to 22-11 overall and 16-4 in the Jayhawk East. The Blue Dragons and Cougars split the season series 2-2.

Hutchinson will now play Pratt and 2 and 4 p.m. on Friday at Fun Valley. That doubleheader was supposed to be Saturday, but a potentially wet forecast for Saturday pushed up the games 24 hours.

GAME 1 RECAP
Davis (6-7) pitched her fifth complete game of the season in the first game. She pitched with runners on base in six of seven innings, but her fifth-inning performance proved pivotal for the Blue Dragons.

The Blue Dragons led 7-0, but Barton loaded the bases with no outs in the top of the fifth inning. Nasadiya Salazar lined a ball to second baseman Shelby Felvus. She mishandled the line drive, but flipped the ball to shortstop Caitlin Schumacher and then to third baseman A.J. Briones for a 4-6-5 double play. Jade Phillips scored, but Davis coaxed an inning-ending groundout by Brooke McCullough to end the inning with minimal damage and the Dragons maintained a 7-1 lead.

Davis won her sixth game of the season with a season-high six strikeouts. She scattered seven hits and allowed one unearned run with three walks.

The Blue Dragons scored single runs in the first and second innings. Rollin had a two-out RBI single in the first to plate Taylor Ullery. Alexis Way's fielder's choice in the second scored Felvus and hutch lead 2-0 after two innings.

The Dragons loaded the bases in the fourth and cashed in. Rollin singled up the middle to score two runs. Brynne Stockman had an RBI double and Briones drove in two runs with a double to cap a five-run inning and give Hutch a 7-0 lead.

The Blue Dragons had 10 hits in Game 1. Ullery and Briones had three hits each. Ullery had a double and two runs scored. Briones had two doubles and drove in two.

Rollin finished 2 for 4 with three RBIs and a run scored. Stockman extended her hitting streak to nine games with an RBI double.

GAME 2 RECAP
Rollin allowed three hits in the first inning to Barton and then didn't give up a hit until the sixth inning.

Rollin (6-1) worked her third complete game. She struck out eight and walked one, allowing five hits and one unearned run.

Felvus had a big defensive play in the second game as well. With Hutch leading 2-0 into the fourth inning, Barton had runners on first and second, the Dragons turned around a potential big Cougar inning when Felvus ranged far to her left and flagged down a ground ball heading to right field off the bat of Jayden Solberg. Felvus made a back-handed flip for an out at first. Then with runners at first and second, Alexis Sharples struck out to end the inning.

Barton scored a first-inning run off Rollin, but the Blue Dragon freshman took care of that deficit with one swing of the bat in the bottom of the first. Rollin deposited her first pitch of the bottom of the first off Emma Horsch over the left-field wall for a three-run home run and a 3-1 Hutchinson lead.

The Blue Dragons increased their lead to 6-1 when Stockman snapped a streak of 22-straight games without a home run with a three-run home run to left field. That hit extended her hitting streak to 10 games.

Hutchinson upped its lead to 8-1 in the fifth with RBI singles from Stockman and Briones.

Stockman finished with four RBIs going 2 for 3 with her fourth homer of the season and two runs scored. Ullery also had two hits, including a double. Rollin was 1 for 3 with three RBIs.

Hutchinson had eight hits in the second game.
