The undefeated Hutchinson Community College softball team heads out of state Thursday and Friday to take on a pair of Oklahoma squads.
Hutchinson travels to Bartlesville on Thursday to play in the Oklahoma Wesleyan JV in a 3 p.m. doubleheader. The Blue Dragons complete the Oklahoma road swing 2 p.m. on Friday with a doubleheader against Rose State in Midwest City.
The Blue Dragons are 6-0 after sweeping the Bethel College JV on Tuesday, 28-6 and 7-2.
The Dragons broke a single-game modern day record with 28 runs in the first game on Tuesday.
Through six games, the Blue Dragon offense has been prolific. The Dragons have a team batting average of .399 and are averaging 12.5 runs per game.
Sophomore shortstop Izzy Godinez has hit safely in all six games and carries a .565 batting average into the weekend. Shelby Felvus is hitting .471, Raven Bass is hitting .438, Kameron Pope is hitting .429 and Ashton Reynolds is at .417.
In the circle, sophomores D.J. Cannon and Destiny Schulze is a combined 6-0 with a 2.33 ERA. Cannon has a 0.50 ERA with 22 strikeouts in 14 innings. Schulze is 3-0 with a 2.21 ERA and 20 strikeouts in 16 inning.
