Hutchinson Community College sophomore softball pitcher D.J. Cannon was named the Jayhawk Conference Pitcher of the Week after her complete game last week at Barton.

Cannon earned her 20th career victory after the Blue Dragons defeated Barton 6-1 in the first game of a doubleheader on Feb. 14.

The sophomore left-hander struck out a season-high nine batters in improving to 2-0 with her first complete game of the season. Cannon scattered four hits and allowed four walks and one run.

This is the fourth time in her career for Cannon to be named the Jayhawk East Player of the Week.

Cannon is the second Blue Dragon to earn conference weekly honors. Last week, Kiara DeCrane was named the conference's Player of the Week.
