IOLA – Led by a pair of PRs from freshmen Leo LeGrand and David Ultreras, the Hutchinson Community College men's cross country team earned a fifth-place finish on Friday at the Region VI Championships at Cedarbrook Golf Course.

Besieged by injuries throughout the season, the Blue Dragon posted a team score for the first time this season, finishing fifth in the Division I Region VI standings with 112 points.

Defending national champion Colby ran away with the team championship, scoring 24 points. Butler was second with 72 points.

The Blue Dragons were led by sophomore Christian Darrah, who was one of two Blue Dragons to place in the individual Top 20. Darrah finished 12th in Division I with a time of 26 minutes, 11.48 seconds.

LeGrand was the other Top 2- finisher for Hutchinson, finishing 15th with a personal-record time of 26:37.55.

Ultreras was the third Blue Dragon to finish, placing 23rd in a PR time of 27:03.85

Keyshawn Garcia ran in his first race of the season on Friday. Garcia placed 26th with a time of 27:13.41.

Sophomore Evan Ativia was 36th with a time of 23:33.85
