PAIR OF BLUE DRAGON RUNNERS POST PR’S AT FIRESTARTER

IOLA – Freshman Leo LeGrand and sophomore Evan Avitia both recorded personal-best times on Saturday for the Hutchinson Community College men's cross country team at the Firestarter Classic at Allen Community College.

LeGrand finished 28th overall on the same course he will run the Region VI Championships with a PR time of 26 minutes, 48.58 seconds.

Avitia, running his first race of the season, finished 54th overall with a PR time of 28:00.06

For the fourth-straight race, sophomore Christian Darrah was the Blue Dragons' leading runner. He placed 20th overall with a time of 26:22.36.

The Blue Dragons didn't have enough runners to post a team score on Saturday.

Northwest Kansas won the team title with 42 points. Cowley was second with 65 points and Garden City was third with 123 points. Butler's Adem Bouldjadji won the race with a time of 23:39.07

The Blue Dragons will now compete at the Region VI Cross Country Championships on Friday, October 27 in Iola.
