McPHERSON – Sophomore Christian Darrah and freshman David Ulteras both ran 8,000-meter personal best times for the Hutchinson Community College men's cross country team on Saturday at the Carol Swenson Invitational at Bulldog Park in McPherson.

Darrah had his second Top 20 finish to lead the Blue Dragons with a personal-best time of 26 minutes, 7.70 seconds. Darrah placed 13th in the Swenson Invitational. Darrah shattered his previous best 8K time by 2 minutes, 1.5 seconds.

Ulteras shaved his 8,000-meter time by 1:59.3 in his 53rd-place performance. Ulteras ran for a time of 22:26.44.

Leo LeGrand ran his first 8,000-meter race this season. He finished 63rd in a time of 28:03.57.

The Blue Dragons didn't have enough runners to post a team score on Saturday.

Kansas Wesleyan won the men's team championship with 21 points. Tabor College was second with 44 points. Kansas Wesleyan's Damian Jackson won the individual title with a time of 25:03.31.

The Blue Dragons are right back at it next Saturday as Hutchinson travels to the Firestarter College, hosted by Allen Community College in Iola.
