The Hutchinson Community College Cross Country teams have been ranked in the nation's Top 10 all season long.

The No. 4 ranked Blue Dragon men and No. 6 ranked Blue Dragon women run today at the Region VI Championships at Butler Community College's Ollie Isom course, which is adjacent to BG Products Stadium. The women race at Noon and men at 1 p.m.

The race was supposed to be Wednesday, but wintry weather earlier in the week forced the postponement to Friday.

Fans will be allowed on the course, but will not be allowed to congregate around the finish line. Awards will be handed out at BG Products Stadium.

The Blue Dragon men have four-straight runner-up finishes and five Top 3 finishes this season to remain in the nation's Top 5 since the first rankings.

Hutchinson is the highest ranked Division I team in the stacked regional. Along with Hutchinson, Cloud County is No. 5, Butler is No. 6, Colby is No. 8, Highland is No. 12, Fort Scott is No. 14 and Dodge City is No. 15. Allen and Cowley are ranked No. 2 and 3, respectively, as well.

Sophomore Teagan Flanagan has one team championship and four runner-up individual finishes to lead the Dragons this season. Earlier this season, Flanagan posted the 11th-fastest 8,000-meter time in Blue Dragon history of 25:07 when he won the Red Devils Relays on Oct. 3.

The Blue Dragon women had a lot of question marks entering this season, but freshman Louise Cocking and sophomore Sheila Too have been reliable and consistent Top 2 placers for Hutchinson.

Cocking posted the third-fastest 5,000-meter time in Blue Dragon history of 19:09.3 in a fourth-place individual finish at Nebraska-Kearney Invitational on October 16.

Too ran a career-best time of 19:27.55 at the Muthama-Rogers Invitational on September 19. That time ranks 13th on the all-time Blue Dragon women's 5K cross country list.

The Hutchinson women are the third-highest ranked Region VI team in the national rankings. Joining No. 2 Cloud County, No. 3 Colby and Hutchinson are Dodge City at No. 7, Butler at No. 10, Fort Scott at No. 13, Barton at No. 15 and Coffeyville at No. 18. Cowley College is ranked No. 1 in NJCAA Division II.

The NJCAA Division I National Cross Country Championships will be Saturday, November 14 in Fort Dodge, Iowa.
