Hutchinson Community College men's cross country runner Teagan Flanagan was named the Jayhawk Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week on Monday.

After two near misses in his first two races of the season, Flanagan cruised to a 22-second victory in the Red Devil Invitational on Saturday in Iola.

Running his first 8,000-meter race of the season on Saturday, Flanagan took charge and posted a time of 25:07.00, the 11th-fastest 8K time in Blue Dragon history.

Flanagan helped the No. 2-ranked Blue Dragons to a runner-up finish at the Red Devil Invitational.

The sophomore from Kingman is the first Blue Dragon to earn league runner of the week honors since Andrew Kibet on September 24, 2019.

The Blue Dragons will compete on Friday at the Bethel Invitational on Friday in North Newton.
