TOPEKA - Hutchinson Community College sophomore jumper Caleb Manning capped a strong 2023 indoor season by earning second-team All-America honors on Saturday at the 2023 NJCAA Indoor National Championships at the Washburn University Indoor Athletic Facility.

Manning was the highest-placing Blue Dragons at the 2023 Championships with a fourth-place finish in the men's triple jump on Saturday.

Manning posted personal record with a career-best leap of 49 feet, 5.75 inches (15.08m). That mark was the second-best indoor triple jump in Blue Dragon indoor history.

Manning, who placed 11th on Friday in the long jump, is the highest placing Blue Dragon at the NJCAA Indoor Championships since Teegan Flanagan, who was the national runner-up in the 5,000 meters in 2021.

The Blue Dragons placed 21st in the final team standings with 21 points. South Plains and New Mexico Junior College tied for the men's team championship with 107 points each. Iowa Western was third with 61 points.

The Blue Dragons had one other athletes competing on Saturday.

Thrower Christopher Brown placed seventh in the weight throw and added two points to the team point total. Brown's top throw on Saturday was 53 feet, 5.75 inches (16.30m). Brown placed 10th on the shot put on Friday.

The Blue Dragons will open the 2023 outdoor season on Saturday, March 25 at the Mark A Phillips Invitational in Arkansas City.
