TOPEKA – Hutchinson Community College sophomore Dimetre Browne placed in the NJCAA Indoor Championship long jump for the second-straight season on Friday at the Washburn Indoor Athletic Center.

Browne placed sixth on Friday with a jump of 24 feet, 1.75 inches to earn third-team All-America honors. Last season, Browne placed eighth in the long jump.

Browne was 11th after the first two jumps in the second flight. He hit a jump to propel him into the finals on his final jump of prelims at 24-11.75. Browne nailed his best jump of the day on the second jump of finals when he went 24-1.75.

Brown scored the only points for the Blue Dragons on Friday. Hutchinson is tied with Vincennes University for 19th after Day 1 with three points. Colby is the men's team leader after Day 1 with 32 points. Iowa Western and New Mexico Junior College are tied for second with 31 points and South Plains is fourth with 29.

Thrower Christopher Browne placed 10th in the men's shot put on Friday with a best distance of 49 feet, 9 inches (15.16m).

Sophomore Caleb Manning was 11th in the long jump with a jump of 23-2 (7.06m).

Alexander Holt competed in two events on Friday. He was 12th in the high jump with a clearance of 6-4.25 (1.94m). He placed 16th in the 60-meter hurdle preliminaries with a time of 8.33 seconds.

Darrien Holloway was 19th in the 60-meter hurdles prelims with a time of 8.45 seconds.

Sprinter Ezekiel Seamster was 32nd in the 60-meter preliminaries with a time of 6.94 seconds.

The Blue Dragons have two athletes in action on Saturday in Topeka.
