HOLLOWAY QUALIFIES FOR NATIONALS IN 60 HURDLES

Sophomores Darrien Holloway and Christopher Brown became the seventh and eighth Hutchinson Community College men's track and field athletes to qualify for the NJCAA Indoor Championships on Saturday at Washburn University.

Holloway posted the third-fastest time in Blue Dragon indoor history in the 60-meter hurdles with a second-place time of 8.16 seconds, which was one of 6 Top 3 performances by the Blue Dragons.

Holloway eclipsed the national qualifying mark in the 60-meter hurdles in Saturday's preliminary round with a top-qualifying and personal record time of 8.19 seconds. Be bettered that mark in the finals at 8.16 seconds, which is No. 3 on the Blue Dragon indoor career performance chart.

Brown qualified for his second individual event for the season when he posted a PR in the weight throw. Brown placed third in the event with a throw of 53 feet, 11 inches (16.43m), which is the third-best weight throw in Blue Dragon indoor history.

Brown also finished second in the shot put on Saturday. Already qualified for nationals in the event, Brown had a season-best mark of 52-9.25 (16.03m).

Two-time national qualifier Caleb Manning had another strong performance over the weekend. Manning won the triple jump on Friday with a jump of 48 feet, 0.25 inches, which is a PR and the fourth-best jump in the nation this season. Manning placed fourth in the long jump on Saturday with a fourth-place mark of 22-11.25. Manning has already qualified for nationals in both events.

Alexander Holt placed third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.34 seconds in the finals. Holt posted the third-best qualifying time at 8.27 seconds, which is No. 5 all-time in Blue Dragon indoor history.

Freshman Ezekiel Seamster just missed qualifying in the 200 meters, placing third with a time of 21.95 seconds. That time ties for eighth fastest in Blue Dragon indoor history and was just 0.25 seconds off the national qualifying standard.

Sophomore Sharim Hamilton placed fifth in the 400 meters at 49.02 seconds, which is fifth best in Blue Dragon history. Hamilton just missed the national qualifying standard by 0.51 seconds.

Freshman James Knowles was fourth in the triple jump at 42-4.75 (12.92m). Adrian Dimond was fifth in the event at 42-4.75 (12.92) and Jack Losew was sixth at 42-2 (12.85m).

Already qualified in the pole vault, Nathaniel Hein was sixth in the event on Saturday after clearing 14 feet, 2 inches (4.32m).

Now with eight total qualifiers, the Blue Dragons compete in the Region VI Championships on Friday and Saturday at the Plaster Center in Pittsburg.
