Hutchinson CC Sports Information

A much larger contingent of athletes is qualified for the Hutchinson Community College track and field teams when the Blue Dragons compete at the Wendy's/Pittsburg State Invitational on Saturday at the Plaster Center in Pittsburg.

Running events will be done in two sessions at 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Field events will begin at 11 a.m.

The large field will have mostly NCAA Division II teams as well as the University of Mississippi. There are several NAIA programs as well Hutchinson, Coffeyville, Highland, Butler, Fort Scott, Cowley and Kansas City from the Jayhawk Conference.

Entering its third meet of the season, the Blue Dragon men have five national qualifiers for the NJCAA Indoor Championships in March in Lynchburg, Virginia. The Blue Dragon women are still looking for their first national qualifier for the 2020 indoor season.

Sophomore Andrew Kibet in his first two weeks of the indoor season has ran two events and broke two Blue Dragon school records in the 600 and 800 meters.

The Blue Dragon men will have 18 entries for the Pitt State Invite. Hutch's women will have 12 entries on Saturday.
