The Hutchinson Community College men's and women's track and field teams enter the indoor postseason on Sunday with the Region VI Indoor Championships at Kansas State University's Ahearn Fieldhouse in Manhattan.

Both field and running events get underway at 9:15 a.m.

The regional meet has already begun with the completion of the men's Heptathlon and women's Pentathlon. They were completed on Thursday and Friday in Highland.

The Blue Dragons scored in both multi-event competitions. Adriana Janic repeated as Region VI Pentathlon champion and scored 10 points for the Hutch women. Tre'Juan Cash played fourth in the Heptathlon and scored six points for the Blue Dragon men.

BLUE DRAGON MEN
The No. 13-ranked Blue Dragon men take 16 national qualifiers into Sunday's competition. The Blue Dragons have five Top 10 national rankings entering Sunday.

Freshman Richard Newman is second in the NJCAA in the high jump after clearing 7 feet, one-quarter inch earlier this season. Newman is also ninth in the long jump at 23-feet, 5 1/2 inches. Newman is first in Region VI in the high jump and fourth in the long jump.

Freshman Alex Grays is tied for the third-fastest indoor 200 meters this season. Running at the Gorilla Classic in Pittsburg last season, Grays broke a school record with a time of 21.33 seconds. That's the top time in Region VI this season.

Cash is eighth in the 60-meter hurdles at 8.14 seconds, the second-fastest time in the region this season.

BLUE DRAGON WOMEN
All-America Adriana Janic leads the Blue Dragons into regionals with three individual national qualifications in the 60-meter hurdles, high jump and long jump.

Janic, the defending 60-meter hurdle national champion is third in the NJCAA this season at 8.60 seconds. That's the top time in the region this season. Janic is also fourth in the high jump at 5-7. Janic also leads the region in that event.

If Janic chooses to, her 3,631 points she scored in the Pentathlon currently leads the NJCAA. Last year she opted to compete in the individual events and not the pentathlon.

Overall, the Blue Dragon women have six total qualifiers.
