The No. 1 Hutchinson Community College men's golf team grew its lead at the conclusion of the two-round day one at Jayhawk No. 2 at the Crestview Country View in Wichita.

That lead stretched out to a punctuating 29-stroke lead as four Blue Dragons occupied the top 10 in the second KJCCC tournament and the Blue Dragon men's golf team won its fourth straight tournament of the season with a three-round 10-under-par 842.

Dodge City finished in second place with a team score 871 after tying with Hutchinson in the team standings at Jayhawk No. 1 in Manhattan two weeks ago. 

Alex Lindstrom won the individual title, his first of the season, an eight-under-par 205. Lindstrom shot a 65 in the first round and a 69 in the second round.

Marco Anderson finished in second after shooting a 70 in the first and third rounds while carding a 69 in round two Monday for the three-round total of 209 and four under par. All-American Dominic Clemons rallied on day two with a third-round 68, which leaped him into the top 10 to tie for fourth place. Clemons finished with a one-under-par 212.

All-American Blake Saffell, who won Jayhawk No. 1, too rallied after finishing six-over-par first round, climbing into the top 10 to come in seventh with a three-round three-over-par 216. Saffell shot a 71 in the second round and a third-round three-under-par 68.

Clemons was tied for seventh with a two-over 73 in the second round after shooting a 71 in the opening round. After starting six over in the first round, Saffell rallied back and shot even in round two to tie for 12th after Monday.

Blue Dragon individual players Louis Galvin and Brooks Sauder shot better second and third round rounds, Galvin improving from a first-round 81 and shot a 75 in the second and third rounds. Sauder shot an 82 in the opening round and 77s in the second and third rounds.

The Jayhawk Championship is next Monday and Tuesday at Sand Creek Station Golf Course in Newton, also the site of the 2023 NJCAA Division I Championship from May 16-19.
