OKLAHOMA CITY – Sophomore Ben Partridge finished strong to help put the No. 3-ranked Hutchinson Community College men's golf team within striking distance after one round of the Oklahoma Christian Broncho Invitational on Monday at Gailardia Country Club.

Cold weather postponed the start to Hutchison's first spring tournament of the 2022 season on Monday and the tournament was shortened to 36 holes. The final 18 holes will be played on Tuesday morning.

The Blue Dragons were in sixth place after 12 holes on Monday and played a collective 6-under par to jump into second place after the first round at 302. The Blue Dragons trail Southwestern Christian University by four strokes.

Leading the way was the All-American and defending NJCAA national champion Partridge, who fought back from 5-over par with five birdies in his last six holes played on Monday. Partridge is in a three-way for second at even-par 72.

Oklahoma State's Tiger Christensen leads the individual standings after a 5-under 67 on Monday.

All-American Harry Crockett is the only other Blue Dragon in the Top 10, tied for eighth at 2-over 74. Crockett had 15 pars, two bogeys and one birdie, which came on the 17th hole played on Monday.

Freshmen Dominic Clemons and Blake Saffell and sophomore Addison Alonzo are all tied for 27th at 6-over 78.

Freshman Finn Nelson is playing as an individual and his 79th after an opening-round 94 on Monday.
