WICHITA – Led by three golfers in the individual Top 10, the Hutchinson Community College men's golf team is right in the thick of the team title chase at the NJCAA District III/Region VI Championships after 36 holes on Monday at Crestview Country Club North.

The NJCAA third-ranked Blue Dragons are just one stroke, 585-586, behind No. 2 Indian Hills after the first two rounds. Indian Hills shot rounds of 293 and 292, while the Blue Dragons shot rounds of 294 and 292 on Monday.

The final round will begin at 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday with a shotgun start. The Blue Dragons will once again be paired with Indian Hills and third-place Iowa Western, which shot 599 on Monday.

The Blue Dragons are bidding for their third District III Championship in team history, the first since 2009. Hutchinson is also looking to repeat at Region VI team championships.

The Dragons are also looking to qualify for their 20th-straight NJCAA Division I Men's Golf Tournament.

Hutchinson has a 19-stroke lead over Garden City for the Region VI championships, which is derived from the same scores shot on Monday. The Broncbusters had rounds of 296 and 309 on Monday to complete two rounds at 605. Dodge City is third in the regional standings at 615.

The Blue Dragons counted scores of 70 from Ben Partridge, 72 from Harry Crockett, 75 from Charlie Crockett and a 77 – both Trey McCrae and Cameron Rios-Ceballos shot that in the opening round – to account for the opening-round 294.

The Dragons improved two strokes in the afternoon round with counted scores of 70 by Harry Crockett, 73 from Charlie Crockett, 74 from Partridge and 75 from McCrae.

Individually, Harry Crockett is second at 2-under 142. He is just one stroke off the lead of Iowa Western's Kyle Henry at 141. Henry shot a 3-under 69 in the second round on Monday. Harry Crockett is the Region VI leader after 36 holes.

Partridge is third overall at 144 and Charlie Crockett is tied for ninth at 148. McCrae is tied for 19th at 152 and Rios-Ceballos is tied for 22nd at 153.

Both Blue Dragon individual players are tied for 25th at 155. Addison Alonzo had rounds of 75 and 80 on Monday. Charlie Hilton shot rounds of 78 and 77.
