WICHITA – The No. 2-ranked Hutchinson Community College men's golf team captured its fifth-straight Jayhawk Conference-designated tournament championship on Tuesday, dominating Jayhawk No. 2 on Monday and Tuesday at Crestview Country Club South.

The Blue Dragons led the tournament by nine strokes after 18 holes and 32 strokes after 36 holes on Monday. Tournament runner-up Garden City out-shot the Dragons 290-291 on Tuesday.

The Blue Dragons finished at 2-over par 854. The Blue Dragons shot 4-over 284 in the first round. Led by three players shooting in the 60s Monday afternoon, the Blue Dragons shot 9-under 275 in the second round to break open the tournament.

Garden City was second at 885 and Dodge City was third at 905.

Hutchinson counted Charlie Crockett's 65, Ben Partridge's 68, Harry Crocket's 69 and Trey McCrae's 73 in its low round of the spring season.

The Blue Dragons have now won five-straight conference-designated tournaments going back to the 2019 season. The 2020 conference season was wiped out by the Coronavirus pandemic.

The Blue Dragons lead the team standings by two points over the Busters 8-6. Dodge City, Barton and Kansas City are tied for third with 10 points in the team standings heading into next week's Jayhawk Championship at Sand Creek Station in Newton on Monday and Tuesday. Team points are weighted to 1.5 points in the KJCCC Championship.

Charlie Crockett won the Jayhawk No. 2 individual championship by six stroke at 8-under 205. He had rounds of 71 and 6-under 65 on Monday and closed as the only player shooting under 70 on Tuesday with a 2-under 69.

Partridge was the individual runner-up at 2-under 211. He shot rounds of 72, 68 and 71. Harry Crockett placed fourth overall at 3-over 216. He carded rounds of 74, 69 and 73.

Partridge takes over the Jayhawk Conference individual season standings lead through two tournaments. He has 17 conference points and leads teammates Harry Crockett and Charlie Crockett and Garden City's Adam Samnegard, who are all tied for second, by three points.

Cameron Rios-Ceballos was 15th in Jayhawk No. 2 at 228 (71, 78, 79). McCrae finished tied for 18th at 232 (81, 73, 78).

Blue Dragon individual player Addison Alonzo tied for ninth for the second-straight league tournament. Alonzo finished at 12-over 225 (76-73-76). Alonzo is 12th in the KJCCC individual season standings with 1.5 points.

Individual player Charlie Hilton 1th at 227 (71-79-77).
