TROPHY CLUB, Texas – The Hutchinson Community College men's golf team won its second tournament of the 2020-21 season on Tuesday, narrowly edging NCAA Division I Cameron University by one stroke to win the Texas A&M-Commerce Lion Invitational title.

NJCAA No. 2-ranked Hutchinson shot a 1-under 287 in the rain-shorted 36-hole tournament with a score of 576. Cameron, Oklahoma Christian and Midwestern State all tied for second just one stroke behind the Blue Dragons.

The Blue Dragons also won the NJCAA National Preview at The Rawls Course in Lubbock, Texas, in October. The Blue Dragons now have five Top 5 team finishes in as many tournaments in the fall and spring seasons.

With the Blue Dragons in the clubhouse at even par for the tournament, Cameron was also even par through 17 holes and OCU and MSU were 2 and 3 strokes back, respectively. Cameron was 1-over on its final hole, while Oklahoma Christian was 1-under and Midwestern State 2-under on their final holes.

Hutchinson counted 1-under 71s by Charlie Crockett and Ben Partridge, an even-par 72 from Harry Crockett and a 1-over 73 from Cameron Rios-Ceballos.

The Blue Dragons had two golfers place in the individual Top 10 and three in the Top 12.

Charlie Crockett tied for fifth at 3-under 141. Harry Crockett tied for ninth at 2-under 142. Partridge tied for 12th at even-par 144.

Rios-Ceballos tied for 29th at 149 and Trey McCrae, who shot an 84 on Tuesday, tied for 76th at 160.

The Blue Dragon open defense of their Jayhawk Conference title next Monday with Jayhawk No. 1, a 36-hole, one-day tournament at Colbert Hills in Manhattan.
