LUBBOCK, Texas – What a day it was for the GolfStat No. 1-ranked Hutchinson Community College men's golf team on Monday at the NJCAA National Preview.

The Blue Dragons opened Monday by setting an 18-hole team scoring record in the first of two rounds at The Rawls Course, the site of the 2021 NJCAA Men's Division I Championships in May.

So what did the Dragons do for an encore in the second round on Monday? Shred the very same record set earlier in the day and post a school-record score for 36 holes.

Hutchinson carries a staggering 36-stroke lead into Tuesday's final round after 18-hole school records of 275 and 270 for a 36-hole team record of 545 (31 strokes under par). Odessa College is second at 581 (+5). Western Texas College is third at 584 (+8). KJCCC rival Garden City is sixth at 596 and Dodge City is seven at 599.

Along the way, the five golfers who are eligible to figure in the team score all either established or tied career-low rounds. All five reside in the Top 12 of the individual standings, including the Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 4 golfers.

The 275 score in the opening round (-13) eclipsed the previous par-72 record of 279 set in the final round of the CSU-Pueblo Invitational on October 6. Freshman Harry Crockett set the pace with a career-low 68. Freshman Cameron Rios-Ceballos added a career-low 69. Sophomore Charlie Crockett and freshman Ben Partridge also had rounds of 69.

Hutchinson had a 16-stroke lead after 18 holes.

Charlie Crockett started the second-round siege on the Blue Dragon record book when he posted a career-low score of 64, the second-lowest single round in Hutchinson men's golf history – Grady Pauls owns that record with a 63.

Partridge tied his career-low round with a 66. Trey McCrae notched a career-low round for the second time this season with a 67. The Dragons also counted Harry Crockett's 1-over 73.

The 18-under 270 second-round score helped extend the Dragon lead to 36 strokes. The final round tees off an 9 a.m. Tuesday.

With rounds of 69 and 64, Charlie Crockett leads the individual title chase at 11-under 233. Crockett bids for his eighth career individual title on Tuesday.

Crockett has a two-stroke lead over Partridge (69-66), who is at 9-under 235. McCrae is third after his six-stroke improvement on Monday with rounds of 73 and 67 at 4-under 140. Harry Crockett is fourth at 3-under 141 (68-73). Rios-Ceballos is in a five-way tie for seventh at even-par 144 (69-75).

The Blue Dragons have two individual players in the field.

Freshman Charlie Hilton also posted a career-low round with an even-par 72 in the second round. With his opening-round 74, Hilton is tied for 22nd at 2-under 146. Sophomore Tyler Trudo had back-to-back rounds of 76 and is tied for 33rd at 152.
