Hutchinson CC Sports Information
The Hutchinson Community College men's golf team made program history on Wednesday, earning a No. 1 ranking in a national poll for the first time ever.
GolfStat posted its first national rankings of the season and the Blue Dragons are No .1 in NJCAA Division I.
In addition to the team ranking, Blue Dragon individual players are ranked Nos. 1, 2 and 3 with four Hutch golfers in the Top 7 and six in the Top 21. Freshman Ben Partridge is ranked No. 1 individually in the GolfStat rankings, followed by freshmen Trey McCrae and Harry Crockett in the second and third spots.
Four District III teams are ranked in the Top 5 in the rankings. With Hutchinson at No. 1, Indian Hills is No. 2, Eastern Florida State is No. 3, Iowa Western is No. 4 and Dodge City is No. 5.
The Blue Dragons have played in two predominant NCAA Division II fields in the first two weeks of the 2020 fall season. Hutchinson finished third at the CSU-Pueblo Samuel Proal Classic. The Blue Dragons set program records for teams scores in 18 holes and 54 holes in Colorado. Hutch finished fourth in the Midwestern State Invitational on Tuesday in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Hutchinson's adjusted stroke average through six fall rounds is 72.54. Indian Hills' adjusted average is 73.31.
The previous highest ranking for a Blue Dragon men's golf team was No. 3 last season in the Bushnell/Golfweek Rankings and NJCAA Coaches Association rankings.
With two Top 10 finishes in his first two career tournaments, Partridge is No. 1 in the individual rankings with an adjusted scoring average of 71.04. McCrae is No. 2 at 72.87 and Harry Crockett is ranked No. 3, also at 72.87.
Sophomore All-American Charlie Crockett is ranked seventh with an adjusted average of 74.86. Freshman Charlie Hilton is 17th at 74.94 and freshman Cameron Rios-Ceballos is ranked 21st at 77.70.
The Blue Dragons will put their No. 1 ranking to the test when they face many top NJCAA teams at the NJCAA National Preview on Monday at The Rawls Course in Lubbock, Texas. That course will be the site of the 2021 NJCAA Division I Championships in May.
