DRAGONS SET RECORDS FOR SINGLE ROUND, 54-HOLE TOTAL

PUEBLO, Colorado – The first tournament of the 2020 season turned out to be a record-breaking performance for the Hutchinson Community College men's golf team.

The Blue Dragons set records for a single round and 54-hole total on a Par-72 course on Tuesday, tying for third place at the CSU-Pueblo Farmers' Insurance Samuel Proal Invitational at Walking Stick Golf Course.

Paced by a career-low round by freshman Trey McCrae on Tuesday, the Blue Dragons closed the tournament with a team score of 9-under-par 279, a team record for a Par-72 course. That was the Blue Dragons' best team round since posting a 280 in the opening round of the Ryan Palmer Classic in Lubbock, Texas on September 11, 2018.

The last time the Dragons broke 280 in a round was a 277 in the second round of a Jayhawk Conference-designated tournament on September 26, 2011 at the Par-70 Salina Municipal Golf Course.

With rounds on Monday and Tuesday of 283, 285 and 279, the Blue Dragons also posted a 54-hole team record of 847 (17-under par).

Hutchinson tied the Colorado School of Mines for third place at 847. Trailing Mines by three strokes entering the final hole on Tuesday, the Blue Dragons got birdies from McCrae, Ben Partridge and Harry Crockett to pull into a tie for third.

McCrae had a career-low 68 on Tuesday with five birdies and one bogey. The Dragons also counted a 69 from freshman Ben Partridge, 70 from sophomore Charlie Crockett and a 72 from freshman Harry Crockett in their final round on Tuesday.

CSU-Pueblo was the team champion at 836 (-28). The Pack shot a 12-under 276 in the final round. Texas A&M-International was second at 841 after a 278 on Tuesday. Colorado Mines shot one stroke better than the Dragons in its final round at 278.

Three Blue Dragons finished in the individual Top 10.

Partridge finish sixth overall with a 54-hole total of 210 (-6). Charlie Crockett and McCrae tied for seventh. Crockett and McCrae finished with 211 totals.

Harry Crockett tied for 21st at 215. Cameron Rios-Ceballos had a strong comeback on Tuesday with a 1-over 73. He tied for 55th at 228.

CSU-Pueblo's Jamie Roberts shot three-straight rounds of 68 to win the individual title of 12-under 204.

The Blue Dragons return to action next Monday and Tuesday at the Midwestern State Invitational in Wichita Falls, Texas.
