PERCY EARNS ALL-JAYHAWK; DRAGONS FINISH 3RD

WICHITA – Sophomore Matt Percy shot a 2-under par 70 on Tuesday and earned All-Jayhawk Conference first-team honors as the Hutchinson Community College men's golf team finished third in the Jayhawk Conference championship.

Percy's 70 helped the Blue Dragons shoot a team tournament-low 295 on Tuesday at Auburn Hills Golf Course. The Blue Dragons shot a 54-hole total of 901, finishing four strokes behind Barton for second place and five strokes ahead of Garden City. Dodge City won the team championship at 873, shooting a team score of 4-under 284 on Tuesday.

Dodge City clinched the 2018 Jayhawk Conference team championship, winning all three conference tournaments this season. Barton was second and the Blue Dragons finished third.

Percy improved each round this week. After opening with a 77 in Monday's morning round, he carded an even-par 72 in the second round. Percy then fired a 2-under 70 on Tuesday to finish fifth in the tournament at 3-over 219. Placing in all three tournaments, Percy finished fourth in the Jayhawk Individual Player standings, accumulating 18.50 points and earned all-conference first-team honors.

Sophomore Andrew Rios-Ceballos finished ninth in the Jayhawk Conference championship at 222. After back-to-back 73s on Monday, Rios-Ceballos cared a 4-over 76 on Tuesday. He placed in 2 of the 3 conference tournaments and earned honorable mention honors.

Sophomore Cole Gritton just missed placing in the top 10 of the tournament. He fired a second-straight 74 on Tuesday to finish tied for 11th at 22.

Sophomore Doug Rios-Ceballos tied for 27th at 2345. He finished with a 75 on Tuesday and also earned all-conference honorable mention honors.

Max Smith closed his tournament with 79 on Tuesday and finished tied for 37th at 239.

Individual player Lake Leroux tied for 34th at 237 after an 80 on Tuesday.

The Blue Dragons will next compete at the District III/Region VI Championship next Monday and Tuesday at Sand Creek Station in Newton.
