WICHITA – Sophomore Andrew Rios-Ceballos shot back-to-back 73s on Monday to lead the Hutchinson Community College men's golf team through the first two rounds of the Jayhawk Conference championship at Auburn Hills Country Club.

The Blue Dragons are in third place through 36 holds of the 54-hole conference finale at 606. Hutchinson is four strokes behind Barton for second and 17 strokes behind team-leader Dodge City. The Dragons are four strokes ahead of Barton County and six strokes ahead of Kansas City.

The final round of the tournament will be a shotgun start at 8:15 a.m. on Tuesday at Auburn Hills.

The Blue Dragons shot 306 in the opening round and followed that with a 300 after a 72 from Matt Percy, a 73 from Rios-Ceballos and 74 from sophomore Cole Gritton.

Rios-Ceballos is fourth after 36 holes after back-to-back 1-over 73s. He trails individual front-runner Saksit Jairak by five strokes.

Percy is tied for 10th after two rounds at 149. Percy shot a 77 in the morning round before carding an even-par 72 in the best scoring conditions of the league season on Monday afternoon.

Gritton improved by four shots with rounds of 78 and 74. He's tied for 13th at 52.

Douglas Rios-Ceballos is tied for 34th at 159 (78-81). Max Smith is tied for 37th at 160 (79-81).

Individual player Lake Leroux is tied for 27th at 157 (79-78).
