Hutchinson CC Sports Information

The Hutchinson Community College men's golf team opens the 2018 spring season on Monday at the Bethany College Spring Invitational at Turkey Creek Country Club in McPherson.

The Blue Dragons start the spring season ranked No. 7 in the NJCAA Division I Men's Golf Rankings, up one spot from the last fall rankings and one spot ahead of Jayhawk Conference rival Dodge City.

Hutchinson, during the fall season, had five Top 10 team placing in its five fall tournaments with a season-best third at the Dr. Pepper Classic in Waco, Texas.

According to GolfStat, four Blue Dragons are currently ranked in the Top 100 of the nation in NJCAA Division I in stroke average.

All sophomores, Doug Rios-Ceballos is 32nd at 75.51 strokes per round. Andrew Rios-Ceballos is 49th at 75.90, Cole Gritton is 71st at 76.44 and Matt Percy is 98th at 76.82.

The Dragons will have two tournaments – Bethany and Nebraska-Kearney – before opening Jayhawk Conference play on March 26 at Colbert Hills Golf club in Manhattan.

The 2018 Conference season will consist of three tournaments.
