Coming off its most impressive victory of the season on Monday night, the Hutchinson Community College men's basketball team is back on the road Thursday evening.

The Blue Dragons (15-8, 11-6 KJCCC) travel to play the Garden City Broncbusters (13-11, 8-10 KJCCC) at 6:00 p.m. Thursday at Conestoga Arena in Garden City.

The game will be broadcast live on Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9) beginning at 5:45 p.m. with Sean Boston (play-by-play) and Steve Carpenter (analyst) calling the action. The game will be streamed on the Blue Dragon Sports Network at 5:45 p.m.

Originally scheduled for Wednesday, the game was postponed because of snow.

After an unexpected nine days off, the Blue Dragons came out strong on Monday at No. 14 Coffeyville. Shooting just shy of 50 percent and holding Coffeyville 14 points under its scoring average, the Blue Dragons earned a 76-66 victory over the Red Ravens. D.J. Dudley had 26 points and Bo Aldridge had 22 points to lead the Blue Dragons. Defensively, the Blue Dragons held the Red Ravens to 38.7 percent overall shooting and to just 2 of 17 shooting from 3-point range.

Garden City comes off an equally impressive victory at Coffeyville on Saturday, winning 93-79. The Broncbusters hit 14 of 29 3-point field goals. Antonio Choi and Emmanuel Manyuon each 22 points each with Choi hitting four treys. Jace Steinmetz was 5 of 7 from distance and finished with 17 points.

Hutchinson and Garden City are part of a six conference team battle for the final Region 6 Tournament first-round bye. With seven games to play, the Blue Dragons are in fifth place in the Jayhawk Conference, just 0.5 games behind fourth-place Butler. Colby is sixth with a 9-10 record after a Tuesday win over Butler. Garden City has climbed back into contention for that final first-round bye spot with an 8-11 record.

The Blue Dragons and Broncbusters play for the 197th time in a series that began in 1929. Hutchinson has dominated the series, owning a 145-51 all-time series lead.

The Dragons have won four straight games in the series after an 83-78 Dragon win on Dec. 11 at the Sports Arena. Trailing by two points with 13:21 remaining in the second half, the Blue Dragons got a combined 45 points from Dudley, Aldridge, Jaquez Thornton and Isaiah Jackson in the final 20 minutes to lift Hutchinson.
