Riding a five-game winning streak, the Hutchinson Community College men's basketball team returns home Wednesday for its first meeting of the season with the Seward County Saints.
The Blue Dragons (11-5, 7-3 KJCCC) and Saints (2-13, 1-9 KJCCC) tip off in their KJCCC contest at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Hutchinson Sports Arena. At halftime, the 2024 NJCAA National Football Champion Blue Dragons will be honored.

Wednesday's game will be broadcast live on Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9) and on sister stations KWBW-AM/FM (1450/98.5) beginning at 7:15 p.m. with Sean Boston (play-by-play) and Dan Naccarato (analyst) calling the action. The game will be streamed live and free on the Blue Dragon Sports Network beginning at 7:15 p.m.
The Blue Dragons started the season ranked No. 15 in the preseason NJCAA Rankings. After a 4-2 start to the season, the Blue Dragons fell out of the poll, but riding their current winning streak, which includes two wins over Top 10 opponents, the Blue Dragons are again receiving votes.
The Blue Dragons were in a bit of trouble on Saturday at Pratt, trailing the Beavers by as many as 15 points in the first half and seven points in the second half. Powered by a career-high 24 points by sophomore Khalil Arnold, the Blue Dragons rallied, outscoring the Beavers by 15 points in the second half for an 87-77 victory.
Over the Blue Dragons' win streak they have averaged 78.0 points per game while shooting 46.0 percent. Over that same span of games, the Dragons have allowed only 72.0 points and 40.0 percent shooting.
The Saints enter play on Wednesday on a five-game losing streak, which included a buzzer-beating 51-50 loss to Coffeyville at the Green House on Saturday. Benni Kazadi came off the bench to lead the Saints with 18 points Kiku Parker had 11 points as Seward County shot only 36.4 percent from the floor.
Wednesday's game will be the 118th all-time matchup in a series that began in 1970. The Blue Dragons own an 86-31 all-time lead, including 50-6 in games played at the Sports Arena.
Seward County and Saturday's game at Dodge City will conclude the first round around the Jayhawk Conference for the Blue Dragons.
