The No. 15-ranked Hutchinson Community College men's basketball team looks to stay right in the thick of the Jayhawk Conference championship chase with a Wednesday road game against the Pratt Beavers.

The Blue Dragons (18-3, 13-2 Jayhawk Conference) and the Beavers (6-15, 4-12) tip off at 7:30 p.m. at the Dennis Lesh Sports Arena in Pratt.

The game will be broadcast live on Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9) and sister stations KWBW-AM (1450/98.5) beginning at 7:15 p.m. with Sean Boston (play-by-play) and Darin Dunn (color) calling the action. The game will be streamed live on the Blue Dragon Sports Network beginning at 7:15 p.m.

Hutchinson is in third place in the Jayhawk Conference just 1.5 games behind first-place Barton and one-half game between second-place Cowley entering play on Wednesday.

The Blue Dragons enter Wednesday's game on a four-game winning streak after defeating the Independence Pirates 111-82 on Saturday at the Sports Arena. Three Blue Dragons scored more than 20 points - 24 points each by Valentino Simon and Kernan Bundy and 23 from Kamryn Thomas - as Hutchinson scored a season-high offensive output while shooting 52.5 percent.

The Beavers have lost three games on a row after losing 87-84 against Dodge City on Saturday. Zion Cruz led Pratt with 19 points while Davonte Ross had 17 points and T.J. Nunnery had a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.

Hutchinson won a high-scoring battle in the first meeting with Pratt this season, winning 103-87 on December 2 at the Sports Arena. Six Blue Dragons scored in double figures led by Bundy with 19 points. Valentino Simon had a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Kayvontay Williams had 28 points to lead Pratt.

The Blue Dragons forced 30 Pratt turnovers. The Blue Dragons exploded in the first half and built a 63-38 lead.

Since the 2019-20 season, both the Blue Dragons and the Beavers have put up huge offensive numbers against the other.

Over the last nine games in the series, Hutchinson and Pratt have scored a combined 196.2 points. That average is 220.6 combined points over the last five games. Last season, the Blue Dragons defeated Pratt 120-118 in Pratt, but the Beavers won 130-126 in overtime in the Sports Arena.

Wednesday's game will be the 181st in series history between the Blue Dragons and Beavers. Hutchinson leads the series 152-28, including 67-14 in Pratt. The 152 wins over Pratt is the most for Hutchinson against a single opponent.
