Aaron Franklin went over the 600-point plateau for the season on Saturday night, but the Hutchinson Community College men's basketball team dropped an 87-80 Jayhawk Conference decision to the 23rd-ranked Butler Grizzlies at the Sports Arena.

The Blue Dragons fall to 15-9 overall and 9-9 in the Jayhawk Conference as Hutchison travels to No. 13 Coffeyville on Wednesday in Coffeyville.

Franklin led the Blue Dragons with 24 points on Saturday night, hitting 10 of 19 from the field, including 2 of 10 from the 3-point line. Franklin now has 621 points for the season as the league's leading scorer.

Sophomore Jayden Garrison finished with 15 points on 6 of 8 shooting with a pair of 3-pointers. Garrison added four rebounds and four assists.

Kieran Carr also had 15 points on 6 of 8 shooting and he chipped in five rebounds. Ra'Sean Frederick added 14 points and five rebounds.

The Blue Dragons shot 32 of 67 for the game (47.8 percent), hitting 7 of 32 from 3-point range and 9 of 17 from the foul line. The Dragons had a season-low eight turnovers. Hutchinson was out-rebounded 39-28.

Isaiah Williams led five Butler players in double figures with 24 points and had a double-double with 11 rebounds. Javon Grant had 15 points, Tahjae Hill had 14 points and Rob Brown added 13 points.

The Grizzlies shot 58.2 percent for the game (32 of 55), hitting 4 of 12 from 3-point range and 19- of 25 from the foul line. The Grizzlies turned the ball over 14 times.

Butler jumped out to a 14-7 lead after the first 5:08 of the game, but the Dragons settled in and went on a 10-2 run to take a 17-16 lead after a Carr layup with 10:16 to play in the first half. The Dragons took a 23-22 lead on back-to-back Frederick inside buckets with 5:17 to play. Grant hit a 3-pointer to give the Grizzlies the lead back, but another Frederick basket tied the game at 25-all with 3:46 to play in the half.

Butler closed the half on a 12-2 run – the only Hutchinson score was a Franklin basket with 2:39 to play. When Williams hit a 3-poitner with 8 seconds to play, Butler led 37-27 at halftime.

The Grizzlies built an 11-point lead with 19:07 to play on an Isaac Ondekane bucket. Butler still led 54-44 when Caleb Golden scored with 13:38 to play. Trailing 57-48, the Dragons battled back to tie and take the lead when back-to-back 3-point goals by Garrison and Franklin hit 3-pointers to cap a 16-4 run for a 64-61 lead with 7:41 to go.

Carr scored again to give the Dragons a 66-63 lead, but Butler went on an 8-0 run to lead to take a 71-66 lead. The Dragons rallied once again with an Aaron Potter 3-pointer and Franklin layup to tie the game at 71-all with 4:01 remaining.

Butler took control with a 12-4 run over the next 3 1/2 minutes.
