Three consecutive double-doubles helped Hutchinson Community College sophomore forward Matt Mayers to his third-straight Jayhawk Conference Division I Men's Basketball Player of the Week award on Wednesday.
Mayers won the award for the fourth time this season leading the Jayhawk West first-place Blue Dragons to three wins last week.
The 6-foot-7 forward from Hastings-On-Hudson, New York averaged 22.0 points and 13.0 rebounds while shooting 60.0 percent from the field last week as Hutchinson defeated Dodge City, Northwest Tech and Seward County.
He had 35 points and 13 boards in a huge win over Dodge City that moved the Blue Dragons into a first-place tie with the Conquistadors.
Mayers ranks second in the Jayhawk in scoring at 21.7 points per game and second in the KJCCC in rebounds at 11.5 boards per game.
The last Blue Dragon to win three-straight Jayhawk Conference Player of the Week awards was 2014 NJCAA Player of the Year Kadeem Allen.
