The Hutchinson Community College men's basketball team returns to the Sports Arena to face the Pratt Beavers on Wednesday night in a 7:30 p.m. tipoff.

The Blue Dragons have won three games in a row and 6 of the last 7 games after completing a long two-game road swing on Saturday with a 73-56 victory at Seward County.

Matt Mayers posted his sixth-straight double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds. Bryant Selebangue has his second double-double of the season.

The Blue Dragon defense continued to shine, holding the Saints to an opponent season-low 28.4 percent overall shooting and only four 3-point goals.

Thanks to the win over Seward County and Garden City upending Dodge City on Saturday, the Blue Dragons are now alone in first place in the Jayhawk West. The Dragons are also receiving votes in the latest NJCAA Division I Men's Basketball Rankings released on Monday. That's the first rankings notoriety the Dragons have had since the second week of the season.

Hutchinson now has the No. 3 scoring defense in the Jayhawk Conference at 73.7 points per game allowed and is No. 3 in field-goal defense at 38.0 percent allowed. The Dragons continue to lead the Jayhawk conference in blocked shots at 6.9 blocks per game.

Pratt comes into Wednesday winners of two games in a row, but are 4-6 overall and 3-6 in the Jayhawk West.

The Beavers are in the middle of the KJCCC pack in terms of statistics.

Pratt is averaging 79.4 points offensively, shooting 41.5 percent overall and 27.0 percent from 3-point range. The Beavers are allowing 83.6 points defensively. Pratt opponents are shooting 43.9 percent overall and 34.0 percent from long distance, averaging 8.5 3-pointers against per game.

Three players score in double figures for Pratt led by Malcolm Whitlow, who is at 19.4 points per game. Tommy Thomas is at 13.3 points and Cam Morris is at 10.5 points per game.

With 147 victories all-time against Pratt, the Blue Dragons have more wins against the Beavers than any other Jayhawk Conference opponent.
