Hutchinson CC Sports Information

The Hutchinson Community College men's basketball team knows it let a win get away the first time the Blue Dragons played the Pratt Beavers on January 18 in Pratt.

The Blue Dragons get their opportunity at a rematch with the Beavers and solidify a top-four finish in the Jayhawk West when Hutchinson plays host to Pratt at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the Sports Arena.

The game will be broadcast live on Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9) and sister stations KWBW-AM/FM (1450/98.5) at 7;20 p.m. with Glen Grunwald (play-by-play) and Dan Naccarato (color) calling the action. The game will also be streamed live on the Blue Dragon Sports Network at 7:20 p.m.

Hutchinson had a six-point lead with 3:05 to play in the first meeting with the Beavers. Pratt rallied and took a late lead in regulation before Josh Baker hit a 3-pointer to force overtime. The Blue Dragons had leads in both overtime periods, but Pratt defeated the Blue Dragons 96-91 in double overtime.

Fast-forward to Saturday ... the Blue Dragons defeated Garden City 82-68 and Pratt defeated Seward County 84-73. Those three teams are in a battle for third and fourth place in the Jayhawk West. Pratt is third at 10-6, Hutchinson is fourth at 9-7 and Seward County is fifth at 7-9.

The Blue Dragons look to avoid Pratt's first season sweep against them since 2007.

Hutchinson had its 14th game this season of shooting better than 50 percent on Saturday against Garden City, shooting 55.2 percent from the field. The Dragons had a season-low one 3-pointer. Five Blue Dragons scored in double figures led by freshman Clarence King, who scored a career-high 16 points off the bench. Majok Kuath had 13 points.

Pratt has won 6 of 7 - the only loss was an 85-75 setback to Colby on February 1. Zool Kueth scored 24 points and Deontae Davis had 19 points to lead the Beavers in their 84-73 win over Seward County on Saturday.

One of the key stats in Hutchinson's January 18 loss to Pratt was rebounding. Pratt out-rebounded the Blue Dragons 57-30, including allowing the Beavers 29 offensive rebounds that Pratt scored 33 second-chance points from.

Pratt ranks third in the KJCCC in rebounding (42.8) and third on offensive rebounds (14.3).

Monday's meeting will be the 172nd meeting between Hutchinson and Pratt in a series that has been continuous since 1939. The Blue Dragons own more wins against Pratt than any other opponent. Hutchinson owns a 146-25 record against Pratt, including 67-11 in Hutchinson.

Hutchinson plays its third game in the last five days.
