Playing its third game in five days, the Hutchinson Community College men's basketball team will meet the Garden City Broncbusters at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday at the Sports Arena.

The game will be broadcast live on Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9) and on sister stations KWBW-AM/FM (1450/98.5) with Glen Grunwald (play-by-play) and Rusty Hilst (analysis) calling the action. The game will also be videostreamed on the Blue Dragon Sports Network. The broadcast/stream begins at 7:20 p.m.

Wednesday's game is the third in an eight-day span for the Blue Dragons. So far, so good for Hutchinson with wins over Cowley (85-76) and at Northwest Kansas Tech (85-78) on Saturday and Monday, respectively.

The Blue Dragons ground out Monday's win despite playing with foul trouble and a short bench. The Blue Dragons trails 72-68 with a little more than 6 minutes to play, but outscored the Mavericks 17-8 down the stretch. Rheaquone Taylor had 23 points, D.J. Mitchell scored 22 and Malique Jacobs had 16 points off the bench to fuel the Blue Dragon comeback.

With three wins since returning from the holiday break, the Blue Dragons have vaulted back into the Top 10 of the NJCAA, now at No. 9.

Garden City (7-10, 2-6) is in the exact-same scheduling cycle as Hutchinson. The Broncbusters have lost two in a row since Saturday, falling to Butler (82-69) and Seward County (90-69).

In his first season at Garden City, head coach Patrick Nee has a sophomore-dominated roster with seven second-year players back from last season.

Wednesday will be the 183rd all-time meeting between Hutchinson and Garden City. The Blue Dragons own a 135-47 record over the Broncbusters, including 73-9 in games played in Hutchinson. The 135 wins vs. Garden City are the second-most wins against a single opponent in Blue Dragon history.

The Blue Dragons have a current 10-game winning streak against Garden City.

The Blue Dragons are moving in on an NJCAA milestone by becoming the first junior college men's basketball program to 1,800 all-time wins. Monday's victory at Northwest Tech was all-time win No. 1,795.

Hutchinson head coach Steve Eck is also closing in on a milestone as he is three victories shy of junior college win No. 600. He is 597-105 at four NJCAA stops.
