EL DORADO – Five Hutchinson Community College men's basketball players scored in double figures as the No. 9 Blue Dragons continued its five-game road trip on Friday with an 88-55 victory over Murray State College in the Grizzly Classic at the Power Plant in El Dorado.

Playing the Aggies for the first time since 2013, the Blue Dragons won their ninth-straight game over Murray State by shooting 53.8 percent and holding the Aggies to a frigid 26.0 percent shooting.

Hutchinson improves to 6-0 overall and will play Labette at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday in El Dorado. Murray State falls to 3-3.

The Blue Dragons outscored the Aggies 13-2 over the first 5 minutes, 20 seconds using defense to get several transition breakaways for easy scores. That trend continued throughout the opening half as the Blue Dragons shot a blistering 63.6 percent (21 of 33) and built a 32-12 lead on Boubacar Kammisoko's layup with 7:14 to play in the opening half.

Hutchinson led 48-22 at intermission.

The Blue Dragons were very balanced offensively with nine players scoring at least seven points and five in double figures.

Sophomore James Rojas had a team-high 15 points and a season-high eight rebounds to lead the Blue Dragons. Rojas was 6 of 10 from the field.

Freshman Malique Jacobs came off the bench to score 12 points with six rebounds.

Saquan Singleton, Chris Giles and D.J. Mitchell had 10 points each. Fred Odhiambo finished with eight points.

The Blue Dragons finished shooting 35 of 65 overall, only 3 of 8 from 3-point range, and 15 of 24 from the free-throw line. The Dragons had a 49-33 rebounding advantage with five different players grabbing six or more boards.

Hutchinson held Murray State to 19 of 73 overall shooting, 7 of 35 in the first half. The Aggies hit 9 of 31 3-pointers and were 8 of 9 from the free-throw line. The Aggies had 13 turnovers.

Lloyd Daniels hit 7 of 16 3-pointers for the Aggies and led all scorers with 20 points.

The Blue Dragons are now 10-3 all-time against Murray State.
