GREAT BEND – The Hutchinson Community College men's basketball team surpassed the 100-point mark for the third-straight game and closed out its stay at the Best Western/Cougar Booster Club Classic with a pair of wins.

James Rojas and D.J. Mitchell both had career highs as the No. 9 Blue Dragons raced past the Redlands Cougars 117-85 in a fast-paced game on Saturday.

The Blue Dragons move to 5-0, including 3-0 on a current five-game road trip. The Blue Dragons play Murray State and Labette next weekend in El Dorado. Redlands falls to 0-4.

Hutchinson scored 100-points in a game in three straight games for the first time since the 1991-92 season. This is only the fifth time in program history to reach the century mark in three-straight games. No Hutchinson team has ever scored 100 or more points in four-straight games.

Rojas scored a career-high 28 points on 10 of 14 shooting and 7 of 8 from the foul line. Rojas added six rebounds.

Mitchcell had a second-straight big game with 25 points on 4 of 7 shooting from 3-point range.

Mitchell had seven rebounds.

Five Blue Dragons scored in double figures. Chris Giles had 13 points, while Fred Odhiambo and Josh Perkins had 10 points each.

The Blue Dragons had season highs in points scored, field goal percentage (60.5) and made field goals 46 of 76. The Dragons hit 7 of 13 from 3-point and 18 of 27 from the free-throw line. Hutch had a 50-30 rebounding advantage, but turned the ball over 16 times.

The Blue Dragons had a season-high 60 points in the first half and led by 19 points at intermission. The Dragons outscored Redlands 57-44 in the second half.

A.J. McNeil had 19 points with Anthony Love scoring 18 points.
