A victory in Monday's regular-season finale at Dodge City will have a lot of different meanings for the No. 11-ranked Hutchinson Community College men's basketball team.

The Blue Dragons meet the Conquistadors at 7:30 p.m. on Monday at Dodge City Student Activities Center.

The game will be broadcast live on Blue Dragon flagship stadium KHUT-FM (102.9) and on sister stations KWBW-AM/FM (1450/98.5) with Glen Grunwald (play-by-play) and Daren Dunn (analysis) calling the action at 7:20 p.m. The game will also be streamed on the Blue Dragon Sports Network beginning at 7:20 p.m.

In a larger sense, a victory on Monday still gives the Blue Dragons a chance of sharing a Jayhawk Conference championship and earning the No. 1 overall seed for the upcoming Region VI Tournament.

For that to happen, the Blue Dragons would have to defeat Dodge City and Cowley would have to defeat Coffeyville. If that happens and Barton defeats wins at Neosho County, the Blue Dragons would have the tiebreaker.

A Hutchinson win on Monday would also avenge a 72-70 loss to then-last place Dodge City on January 13 at the Sports Arena.

The Blue Dragons led 58-50 with 8:18 to play in the second half and faltered down the stretch, going without a field goal for more than 8 minutes and missing 6 of 8 free throws down the stretch as Dodge City closed the game on a 22-12 run to snap a nine-game losing streak,

Hutchinson enters Monday's game coming off one of the best defensive performances of the season in Saturday's 77-51 victory over Independence at the Sports Arena. The Blue Dragons held Independence to 26.1 percent shooting with 13 turnovers.

The Blue Dragon sophomore duo of J.J. Rhymes and Devonte Bandoo continue to climb of the Blue Dragon all-time scoring list. Rhymes is currently No. 8 with 1,163 points. Bandoo is now No. 21 with 846 points. Sophomore Sal Nuhu is tied for ninth on the career blocked shot list with 90

Dodge City enters play on Monday on a six-game losing streak after Saturday's 84-52 road loss at Seward County.

Pairings for the Region VI Tournament will be released on Tuesday morning.
